REDIVIDER INVADES SO AND SO #8!

Kim Garcia, Seth Hurley, and Erin Trahan represent. Come out and celebrate Redivider as it finally gets national distribution! December 9th, 7pm, Porter Sq. Books.
(Porter Sq. Shopping Center, 25 White St. in Cambridge, right next to the Porter Sq. T stop).

Please note that this reading WILL NOT be at the Lily Pad, as it is undergoing renovations. Thanks to Ellen and everyone at Porter Sq. Books for helping us out. And note the time change--7pm instead of 8pm.

Kim Garcia's poetry collection Madonna Magdalene was published by Turning Point Books this past October. Her work has appeared in The Atlanta Review, Rosebud, Nimrod, Cimarron Review, Mississippi Review, Brightleaf, Scribner's Best of the Fiction Workshops , Negative Capability, and Lullwater Review, among others. She is the recipient of an AWP Intro Writing Award, a Hambidge Fellowship and an Oregon Individual Artist Grant. A graduate of Reed College, she teaches creative writing at Boston College.

Seth Hurley is a poet of nine years and received his Master of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing from Long Island University. In both 2003 and 2005 he was the recipient of the prestigious John Steinbeck Award, offered annually by the University, for submissions of his original poems. Over the summers of 2003 and 2004 he attended the Southampton College Writers Conference where he worked personally on a daily basis with our nations former Poet Laureate, Billy Collins. In April of 2006, he headlined a poetry reading at Colby-Sawyer College in New London, NH. His work has appeared in such magazines as Abbey, Proteus, Seldom Nocturne and Redivider, the latter of which nominated his poetry for the Pushcart Prize in both 2004 and 2005. His master’s thesis, You Can Count on It, was lucky enough to have Mr. Collins as a third reader, after which Billy attached the compliment, “You pick up the fallen torch of Richard Brautigan, and add your own spin to a mix of metaphor.”

Erin Trahan was born in the same town as Madonna then grew up in the Cherry Capital of the World. This summer she finished a short documentary about her mom’s retirement from a career in elementary school counseling. In addition to Redivider, her poems have appeared or are forthcoming in the Coe Review, Word Riot, and the TMP Irregular. She also writes essays and covers New England film and filmmakers for regional publications.
